August 21-23, 2009
Carrying on the grand German traditions of "shooting festivals," we invite
all to the Barony of Nordskogen once again for a weekend of archery.
Our site also offers us the opportunity to provide equestrian activities.
Notes From the Autocrat
- Under 7 cabin beds remain

The site is dry. Since we do not have the entire site, Girl Scouts
will be present, so no alcohol is allowed on site.
Directions
Find your best route to the junction of Hwy 10 and Hwy 169 near Elk River.
Continue north on Highway 169 to Sherburne County Road 74 (approx. 7 miles).
Turn right on Sherburne County Road 74 and drive about 1 mile to the point
where the pavement ends and a gravel road begins. This is the entrance to
Camp Elk River. Continue on the gravel road, following signs to the "Red Barn,"
about 3/4 of a mile, to the SCA gate.

Pre-regs must be received by August 19th.
While joining us for just the day is an option, please consider spending the
night in order to take in all the event has to offer.
Grassy and shaded tent areas are available as well as several cabin "bunkhouse"
beds. Each cabin sleeps 6 on built-in bunks with mattress. Please provide your
own bedding. One adult per bunk, no more than 2 children sharing one bed.
Amenities
Running hot and cold water, real showers and flush toilets makes your weekend
away from home even more enjoyable!
Note for those with physical challenges
This is a camping / outdoor event. Be prepared for the possibility of uneven
terrain, especially at the Festival Grounds. The buildings are accessible,
with handicap accessible toilets and showers available.
If you require medicines that need to be kept refrigerated, please make
arrangements with the Kitchen Master, Duncan. (See Staff below.)

Saturday
- 7:30AM Range Opens
- 9:00AM Königschutzen:
- Clout - a 10 yard wide circle centered 100 yards out
- Advancing man - Targets at 20, 30 and 40 yards
- Pop-in jay - Returning from last Schutzenfest, the elevated target, 15 to 20 feet in the air
- Grid - side to side or up and down, which is your best slot. Score points based on the number of arrows you can get in a row.
- 1:30PM Royal Round
- Novelty Shoots for the afternoon until 6:00PM:
- Chinese archery challenge
- up to 9 archers at a time compete to eliminate each other. Draw lots to be assigned a target, hit a target enough times to eliminate it, last target standing wins.
- Skill Luck board
- score the points for every box you hit, and I do mean every box that you hit (see image)
- Spinning wheel duel
- two archers at a time duel on a target that moves around as it is hit
- Timed shoot calling out targets
- Targets spaced at various distances, only shoot at the targets as they are called out
- War Bow Practice
- you'll go past the clout shoot on the way to collect your arrows for this one.
- Walk the line
- a series of targets spaced along a line, move to each station and shoot 1 to 2 arrows at each target. This shoot will also be open to the equestrians to try.
Sunday
- Arrow tuning session
- Learn how to test various arrow spine weights to see what shoots best through your bow. a kit of various spine weights and lengths will be on hand to test and see the difference that spine weight makes when selecting your next set of arrows.
- 7:30AM Range Opens - Targets available to choose from for challenging your fellow archers
- Tic-Tac-Toe
- you know the rules for this one
- Darts
- Play any standard dart rules. Race for points, end on a double, cricket... whatever strikes your fancy
- Billiards
- Stripes and solids, how many of your balls can you sink off the table.
- 9:00AM Royal Round, followed by more open range time
- 12:00 Noon - Range Closes

The junction of Highways 10 and 169 at Elk River (just 10 miles) has Walmart, Menards,
grocery stores, gas stations, fast food and sit-down restaurants, banks,
hotels... most everything you may need.
SR Harris Fabrics - need I say more - is 28 miles from site.
